The evidence is clear.
IBM estimates that poor data analysis cost the U.S. economy over $3.1 trillion each year, impacting productivity, compliance, and business performance.
Improving data analysis and reporting requires a mix of the right tools, clear processes, and a strong data-driven culture. Knowing the right strategy to take doesn't have to be complicated; sometimes all you need is an outside perspective with the right expertise.
I can provide that for you.

95% of businesses cite unstructured data as a key challenge.
A Deloitte survey found that the vast majority of businesses struggle with unstructured data, making it difficult to analyze and report findings in a clear and actionable manner.

Hi, I'm Dr. Melo, your new go-to person for data analytics and evaluation.
I like to think of myself as a creative analytics researcher and impact-driven program leader. I have a passion for advancing innovation through end-to-end research, program evaluation (currently evaluating and managing approximately $11 million in grants at Johns Hopkins University), and community building in cross-functional teams.
I am passionate about data and people; my superpower is merging the technical with the human to make an impact!
I draw from my professional interdisciplinary training (Biology, Black Studies, and STEM Education) and lived experience as a gender-expansive woman of color, working-class daughter of Filipino immigrants, and first-generation college graduate to inform my positionality in researching historically excluded groups in STEM fields.
Some of the projects I've worked on include:
-
conducting UX data sets to inform future marketing campaigns of well-known international brands
-
evaluating educator training programs through qualitative and quantitative data collection from urban school districts in Georgia
-
evaluation of policy compliance in math classrooms across school districts in California
-
Principal Investigator for “Influential Networks for Women of Color in STEM Community College Pathways” grant with the National Science Foundation (NSF DUE # 1937777; $ 349,999; 10/1/2019-12/31/2021)
-
I also currently serve on NSF review panels and review CBE-LSE journal manuscripts

-
an executive coach's perspective on change and adaptive leadership
-
a stay-at-home mom turned keynote speaker on balancing the personal and the professional
